maybe instead of piling the tiles over, we set different group of tiles to be different tiles, like that player has the option to go back down.

and maybe we set a condition, like the player went to the second floor to find a clue, like chance in monopoly, to go back to the first floor to get to the third floor via secret passage. but only when the player gets the clue first.

the floors can be slowly "flooded with sand", so player needs to reach next floor asap.

Pyramid idea
-All players try to build the pyramid
-Each tile representing Victory Point
-Have special cards like God card for special effects
-Have special tiles for special effects (VP multiplier etc)
-Have Slave cards that determines how many tiles you can place (like a mana card)
-Game ends when the pyramid is completed

Problem
-how players get the Slave cards.

VP? interesting..but shouldn't this be about getting treasures in a pyramid? VPs, from experiences, are used as points for management and dominance games.

This boardgame, however, I'm getting the impression that the game's objectives are narrative-dependant.
You can come out with a system and plot-objectives to cater to both co-op and competitive game modes.

E.g. - co-op: stop a sorcerer in the pyramid from resurrecting a great Mummy (much like the Mummy movie remake).
- compete: players are racing to collect the most treasures in the pyramid.

no no. this is an alternate idea. this is more like monopoly (actually inspired a bit from tanto core)

the mansion of madness version i am still thinking about it, but since i dont really have an idea how it works yet, so i kinda have a eureka moment with an alternate idea.

i still want to make it like MOM version though

so no more flats? hey hey, what about having the tiles in triangle shape and maybe cube if not convenient. then each sides have different effect of even going on. and the tiles will be randomly turn or maybe determine by dice and thus everyturn there's an different event going on on the tiles. Anyway, can we postphone or make the skype convy earlier coz I need to attend my school's award ceremony this friday night.

Victory points....hmmm...it's still the similar thing to Settlers of Catan..but for Monopoly...I thought the goal is to make people bankrupt? don't recall anything about VPs...if you're talking about the card game version, the winner only needs a number of fullsets of housing properties...

as for Mansions of Madness, there are no VPs...much like Betrayers on the Haunted House, players must first figure out the enemy gamemaster's objectives and stop it from achieving it.

Maybe the victory points can be replaced with the treasures collected? like we can accumulate the smaller treasures. but we still have a jack pot at the top of the pyramid. maybe the numbers of the smaller treasures can be slightly more than the jack pot so there might be a chance for someone to win over the person who got the jackpot, but still it's the matter of whether you can get enough of the smaller treasure to defeat the jackpot winner. lets say if the player only aim for the jackpot, then he might miss out the smaller treasures and there will be a bigger chance for others to get enough small treasures to win over him?
